Leon Bureaux, age 92, of Maccan, NS passed away peacefully at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Center on Monday, August 17, 2009.
Born in Joggins, NS, he was a son of the late John and Fernande (Bayart) Bureaux.
Leon was a veteran of the Second World War. After the war, he went to work at the Maccan Generating Station, then retiring from Nova Scotia Power. He was a member of the Maccan United Church and the Maccan Royal Canadian Legion. Leon loved music, played the guitar and sang with the Maccan Male Quartet for many years. He enjoyed spending time at his hunting camp out at Maccan Lake and took many fishing trips in his trailer around the Maritimes.
He will be sadly missed by his children Gordon (Carol), Kitchener, ON, Ruth Dwyer (Ted), Maccan; grandchildren Peter (Lindsay), Carrie (Jordan), Shannon (Karen), and Alan (Jennifer); great grandchild Taylor Vance; brothers George (Bonnie), Amherst and Alfred (Sheila), Riverview, NB.
He was predeceased by his first wife Norma (Barnes), his second wife Louise (Harrison); grandson Richard Dwyer; sisters Florence Wentzell and Agnes Caines.
Arrangements are in care of Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst (902-667-8777) where visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, August 21, 2009 at 2 pm, Rev. Marion Lloy officiating. Burial will follow in the Amherst Cemetery.
