CUMMINGS, LESLIE - The death of John Leslie Cummings, age 90, of Southfield, NB, occurred at the Sussex Health Centre on Friday, May 14, 2011. The husband of the late Hazel (Totton) Cummings, he was born on July 23, 1920, in Salt Springs, NB, the son of the late Michael and Catherine (McGinnis) Cummings. Leslie is survived by his daughters Carol and Maurice Byrne of Southfield and Karen and Alan Pollock of Upham; sons Joe and Dorothy Cummings of Quispamsis, Terry and Joan Cummings of Norton, Stephen Cummings and Angela Rideout of Southfield; grandchildren Meagan and Maurice Byrne, Erin, Kristi and Lacey Pollock, Kelly and Colin Cummings, Chris and Andrew Cummings, Heather McEwen and Rosmarie Cummings-Brown, Gary Cummings, Jeffery Cummings, Jennifer Withers and Darryl Cummings; great grandchildren Matthew and Sara McEwen, Courtney Brown, Emily, Robyn and Garrett Cummings-Brown, Emma and Molly Cummings, Jacob and Lauren Cummings, Ty Withers, Warren and Anna Cummings; sister Rita McLaughlin; daughter-in-law Rita Cummings; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by sons Larry and Brian; grandson Jerry; and great granddaughter Grace; brothers William, Clarence, Leo, Sterling, Medley, Howard; sisters Alice Carty, Elizabeth Ross, Agnes Carty, Lillian Hourihan, Lulu Hourihan, Ruby Hourihan, Bernice Cummings.
He is resting at Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (506-839-2156) 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, with visiting on Monday from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held from Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Norton, at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, May 17, 2011. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Norton, NB. Donations to the Extra Mural Program or the memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
