CRAIG, G. BERTON - Peacefully at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, NB on May 13, 2011, Mr. G. Berton Craig, husband of Mrs. Pauline V. (Buchanan) Craig of Bonny River, NB. Born at Bonny River, NB on February 10, 1927, he was a son of the late Charles and Edith (Smith) Craig. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, in addition to his wife, Pauline, he is survived by four sons; Sheldon Craig, Merlin (Nila) Craig, David (Cindy) Craig and Eric Craig all of Bonny River, NB, five grandchildren; Charmain, Gayle, Amanda, Natalie and Jeffrey, four great grandchildren; Mackenzie, Liam, Ethan and Sofia, one sister, Doris Hall of Bonny River, NB, his mother in law, Phyllis Buchanan, a daughter in law, Judy Craig of Nova Scotia and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Berton was predeceased by one son, Sherman and numerous brothers and sisters. Prior to his retirement, Berton worked for many years in the local area having worked at St. George Pulp and Paper until its closure in the 1960’s. He then became an independent truck driver who in 1973 went to work for Connors Bros. in Blacks Harbour as a truck driver and later became Supervisor of the construction crew where he retired from in 1997. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and especially camping and loved gardening. He enjoyed the company of his family especially his grandchildren.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB with visiting on Sunday from 7 to 9 pm and on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The service will take place on Tuesday at 2 pm from the Second Falls Baptist Church, Second Falls, NB with Rev. Reg Ward officiating, followed by the interment at the church cemetery. In Berton’s memory, donations to the Charlotte County Hospital or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. (www.stgeorgefh.ca)
