Herbert Arthur Pasha

Born In: Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada

Passed in: Canada
Passed on: May 7th, 2011

It is with great sadness but also with the comfort of knowing that he is finally at rest with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that we announce the passing of Herb on May 7th, at the QEII. Herb was born in Harbour Grace Newfoundland, in 1940, to Herbert and Clara (Legge) Pasha. Herb left home as a young man of 18 to join the Canadian Army. One stop along his career took him to Fredericton, NB where he met and fell in love with a beautiful young girl named Gail. After they married the Army took them to many places, including Germany, NB, Deluth Minnesota, Ottawa and Calgary and finally here to Nova Scotia. Along the way they were blessed with a son Michael and a daughter Shelley. After 27 years in the Army, Herb retired but wasn’t ready to stop working. He and his son opened Mr “P’S” Pizza in Sackville. He then joined the Commissionaires and spent some time there before becoming quartermaster at the Halifax Police Department. He spent 12 years there retiring in 2000. Retiring once again, the next step along his journey saw him as your friendly Walmart greeter, always ready with a smile and quite often a story. His last job has him doing security at the Joe Howe Superstore where you could find him spreading some of his famous Newfie charm and infectious smile. Herb was an avid police patch collector, trading patches with friends from all over the world that he met online, or simply by stopping into police stations on his travels to collect another patch. Because of his love for all things military, Herb spent 3 years as a supporting cast member of the Nova Scotia Tattoo, something he thoroughly enjoyed, meeting new people and socializing for a few weeks each summer. Herb lived a good life in service to the Lord, and now that God has taken him home he will be rewarded for that service. Herb is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gail (MacLellan), his son Michael (Jo-Anne) Halifax, daughter Shelley Pasha (Kevin Desmond) Dartmouth. Seven grandchildren, Four Great Grandchildren. Three sisters, Joyce Pilgrim, and Roz Simms, Carbonear, NFLD, Lorna Matthews, Lethbridge, Alberta, one brother Bob, Goose Bay, Labrador. Several nieces, nephews and cousins. Herb will be greatly missed by his dog, Hunny, who always loved going in the car with “Daddy”. Cremation took place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home. Service was held on Wednesday at Full Gospel Church. In lieu of flowers we know that Herb would appreciate donations to Full Gospel Church in his memory. Donation cards available at Atlantic Funeral Home as well as Full Gospel Church. Online condolences at www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com.
