Houlton Robert Bernard, 55 of Wagmatcook, Victoria Co., N.S., died peacefully with his family by his bedside Monday, August 17, 2009, at Victoria Memorial Hospital.
He was born December 4, 1953 in Baddeck, son of the late Frank Larry and Mary Susan (Isadore) Bernard. He was a member of Queen of the World Catholic Church, Wagmatcook. Houlton was enthusiastic, a guitar player, a singer and was always the life of the party. He loved joking around and even kept his humour while being very ill. His goal was to make people laugh.
He is survived by his ex-wife, the former Pauline Isadore, his one true loved, who was at his bedside until his demise. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Laurence, Wagmatcook, Philip (Karen) Wagmatcook, Carol Johnson (Bob), Millbrook, Alexandria (Louis Joe), Waycobah, Freda (Alfred), Membertou, Judith (Joe), Waycobah; numerous nieces and nephews and stepchildren.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Peter Frank, David, Welfred and Vincent; his sister, Dorthy (Basque) Bernard; his grandparents, Laurence Jerome Bernard and Annie Paul, Wagmatcook and Louise Isadore and Flora Googoo of Wagmatcook.
The body is resting at 79 Humes Rear East Loop with visitation after 5 p.m. Saturday, August 22, 2009. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 24, 2009, at Queen of the World Catholic Church with Rev. Robert MacNeil officiating. Burial will be in the Queen of the World Cemetery at a later date.
Donations may be made to charity of ones choice.
