Died peacefully at home , surrounded by her family, on Sunday, May 15, 2011, after celebrating her 80th birthday on May 12, 2011. Ann was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Ian Tough (1999). She was the loving mother of Judith Burnett and the late Stephen, Murray Tough and his wife Kathy, and Carole and her husband Kenneth Piercey. She was the proud grandmother of Jillian, Ken, Jennifer, Keith, and Fiona, and great-grandmother of Alanna. Ann was the dear sister of Ruth McNeill and the late Prof. Kenneth McNeill, Honora Valentine and the late Dr. Jim Valentine. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews, both in Canada and the United Kingdom. Everyone who knew her or came to know her through her writing will miss her quick wit and sharp humour. Ann loved and was loved. Cremation has taken place. A private family service was held at St. George's Anglican Church, Guelph.
