Clarke, Gerald Ross, age 97 years, left this earth the 17th day of March, 2018, at Grandview Manor, Berwick, NS. Born in Grafton, NS, Gerald was the son of the late John H. and Kate Evelyn (Rockwell) Clarke. A graduate of Kings County Academy and the Provincial Normal College, Truro, he taught successfully for 37 years in Harbourville, Black River, Black Point, Aylesford, Woodville, Berwick and in 1957, moved his family to Quebec where he taught at North Hatley, Three Rivers and Baie Comeau. At Baie Comeau he served as President of the North Shore Teacher’s Association. He became principal at Querbes Elementary School after the amalgamation of the Protestant and English Catholic schools. Gerald was an adherent to the only Protestant church in Baie Comeau and was a choir member for many years. He retired from teaching in 1978 and moved to Kentville, Nova Scotia. Gerald loved his flower gardens and was an avid follower of local yard sales, where he loved to meet and talk with people. Gerald leaves his wife, Hilda Kathleen (Corkum), his daughter Leslie, (Larry Armstrong) Coldbrook, NS, their children, Kyle, (Tamarra), Nictaux, NS, Shaun, (Melissa Pineo), of New Minas, NS, son, Michael, (Paula, deceased), Edmonton, their children, Megan, Brooke, (Mike Froland), Paul and Christopher, son, Greg, (Lisa), of Summerside, PEI, their children, Sigourney, (Lee Brown), Vancouver, Stafford, (Kayla Rice), Pangnirtung, Nunavut and Severn, Barrie, ON, daughter, Beth, (Bradley Pinch), of Winchester, ON, their children, Christopher, Ottawa, Amanda, Ottawa, Steffanie, Toronto and daughter, Nancy, (Archie Campbell), of Ottawa, their children, Ryan, Georgia, USA and Andrew, (Nancy), Ottawa and five great grandchildren. Cremation has taken place, service will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
