Nora Maria Hastings went to be with her Lord surrounded by her family on August 13, 2009 at the Village of Erin Meadows in Missisauga, Ontario. Nora was born on October 22, 1917 in Amherst, Nova Scotia. She was the daughter of the late Joshua and Vesta (Hicks) Hastings. Beloved sister of Ethel Leslie of Hamilton, Ontario, Margaret Cassalato of Amherst, Ruth Miller of Hamilton Ontario, Freda McConomy of Lindsay, Ontario and Bill (Joyce) Hastings of Amherst. She will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews as well as her great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Nora was predeceased by her brother Donald of Amherst.
Nora was employed at the Hamilton Health Association at Chedoke Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario until her retirement in 1980. She returned to Amherst to care for her parents and returned to Hamilton, Ontario in 1984. She moved to Mississauga in 2006 until the time of her death.
Visitation will be held at Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst on Saturday August 22, 2009 at 12 pm. Funeral services will follow at 2pm with Rev. Jonathan Cole officiating. Interment will take place in the Amherst Cemetery.
