ASHTON, THELMA - Thelma Anastasia Ashton, of Riverview, passed away after a sudden illness at The Moncton Hospital on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at the age of 67 years. Born in Sydney Mines, NS on May 22, 1943 she was the daughter of the late George and Sarah (Gouthro) Gardiner. Thelma loved to travel, enjoyed gardening, above all she loved being with her family. She was a true "hockey mom" loving every moment of her sons hockey in their younger years. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Survived by her sons; Paul of Moncton, Chris and Jennifer of Halifax, Brian and Kelly of New Glasgow, and Mark of Riverview; sisters; Elizabeth Gordon of Bridgewater, NS, Lorraine Vautour of Toronto, and Linda and Danny Squires of Ontario; brothers; John E. and Fahey of Sydney Mines, Francis of Sydney Mines, Gerald of Toronto, Brian and Shirley of Saint John, and Michael and Jean of Halifax; 6 loving grandchildren and one adoring great grand daughter. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her common law husband John Leaman in 2002; brothers Russell and Andrew.
The funeral service will be held from Cobb’s Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 330 Whitepine Road Riverview (869-2007) on Saturday, May 21 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Brent Ham officiating, with a reception to follow at the funeral home. Online condolences can me made at www.cobbsfuneralhome.ca
