COULTER, George Ernest – 85, Truro, passed away peacefully, Tuesday evening, May 17, 2011, at Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born September 13, 1925, in Bible Hill, he was the son of the late Hunter and Margaret (Tucker) Coulter. George was a member of Calvary Pentecostal Church, where he devoted himself to his church and church family. He was a veteran of the Second World War, having served with Nova Scotia North Highlanders, Third Division Infantry. His family meant the world to him and he looked forward to time spent camping at Brule, Seafoam and more recently, Pictou, with them. He worked for over 25 years at Canada Post, Truro, as a mail sorter, and retired on June 1, 1986. George is survived by his children, Beverley (Ralph) Robinson, Pembroke, Ontario; Dale (Margo) Coulter, Pictou; Ruth Coulter, Toronto; grandchildren, Rebecca, Matthew (Tarrah), Bradley (Ginny), Heather, Victoria (Danny), Allison; great grandchildren, Taylor, Alexandra, Ashley, Daniel; several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years, Jennie Kathleen (Isenor) Coulter (May 1, 2011); sisters, Muriel Wilson, Doreen Roode, Helen Coulter, Joan Isenor. Special thanks are extended to the doctors and nurses in the ICU and on 4th Floor East, Colchester Regional Hospital for their exceptional care. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where George’s family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m., Friday, May 20, 2011. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, May 21, 2011, in Calvary Pentecostal Church, 20 Curtis Drive, Pastor Michael Aud officiating. Interment to follow in Bible Hill Cemetery. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in George’s memory to Calvary Pentecostal Church (Missions Fund) or Heart and Stroke foundation of Nova Scotia are welcomed.
