BUE – Sigurd On August 17, 2009, God wrapped His loving arms around Sigurd Magnus Bue of Cabri, SK. Our sadness is balanced by the utmost gratitude we feel for the enrichment he brought to our lives for so many years. Sigurd was born in Cabri, SK, son of Norwegian farmers, Sigurd Syverson Bue and Mari Holbo Bue. He was a World War II veteran who participated in the liberation of Holland. His father’s death in 1945 as Sigurd was returning from Europe changed his plan to further his education and he took over the family farm. Sigurd’s family saw him as a person of integrity and strength. He was a community builder and taught by example our responsibility to be a participating citizen of the community and wider world. He was active and served on the board of many organizations including the Co-Op, Wheat Pool, Scandia Lutheran Church, school board and Scouts. Faith and family were central pillars of his life. Sigurd passed these values on to his family, along with his child-like joy of water and snow skiing and his love of music. “Music,” he said, “makes your heart grow.” Sigurd shared his beautiful tenor voice with his family and community. He sang for numerous weddings, funerals and town concerts. He participated in church and community choirs. He sang with Peacock’s Feathers Orchestra and a barbershop choir. Sigurd is lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Jean I. Bue (nee Macnab); his five children and partners; fifteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many other dear relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his mother and father, three sisters and two brothers. The memorial service was held on Monday, August 24, 2009, at 2:00 pm at Scandia Lutheran Church in Cabri, SK, with Pastor Linda Hall officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Scandia Lutheran Church Memorial Fund; Cabri Legion Community Hall Fund; Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.
