Livin Leger

LEGER, LIVIN - Surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer, Livin Leger, husband of Beatrice (Bastarache) Leger, passed away on May 19th, 2011 at his home in Maugerville, NB. Born March 9th, 1923 in Trudel, NB, he was the son of the late Pierre Leger and Marie (Noel) Leger. Livin is survived by his wife, Beatrice; his two sons, Pierre Leger (Rhonda) and Simon Leger, both of Calgary, AB; two daughters, Line Lutwick (Peter) of Woodstock, NB and Irene Chiasson (Rejean) of Fredericton, NB; son-in-law, Donald Schriver of Fredericton, NB; his grandchildren, Jason Joel, Dawn, Jason, Dana, Cory, Jean-Paul, Adrien, Megan, Amanda and Allyson; several great-grandchildren; brothers, Alban (Lise) and Victor (Ludianne); sister, Argentine (Donat); many nieces, nephews and cousins as well as his loving dog, Koda. He was predeceased by his daughter, Ginette Schriver; grandson, Peter Leger and brothers, Aimée Leger and Albert Leger. As a member of the 22nd Batallion (Vandoos), he was a decorated veteran of WWII. He later rejoined the army in the Ordinance Corps attached to the Black Watch until he retired from CFB Gagetown in 1968. He then ran his family business of grocery store and service station until 1973. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and his special neighbors.
Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home on Friday, May 20th, 2011 from 7 to 9 pm. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #93 will hold a tribute service at 7 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Saturday, May 21st, 2011 at 2:00 pm with Fr. Ken Weir as celebrant. Interment will take place in the adjoining cemetery.
