WORTH, JOHN STANLEY - The death of John Stanley Worth of Fredericton, NB died at the Veterans Health Unit on Thursday, May 19th, 2011. Born in Toronto, ON, he was the son of the late Arthur and Euphie (Kenton) Worth and the wife of Marjorie (Palmer) Worth. Stan leaves to mourn his wife of 67 years Marjorie (Palmer); son, Mark (Mary Dollimore) of Fredericton, daughter-in-law, Shirley Cochran of Kingston Peninsula, NB; grandchildren, Mark Smissaert (Tanya Morehouse) of Fredericton, Kate Smissaert (Iain McNeill) of Fredericton, Natalie Worth and Max Denton of Kingston Peninsula; sister, Thelma Duff of Toronto; brother-in- law, Blake (Carol) Palmer of Saint John; nephew, Andrew MacIntosh of Fredericton and many nieces and nephews. Stan was a member of the Lord Beaverbrook RCAF Association (Fredericton), Christ Church (Parish) Church, the FSNA Fredericton Branch, and the Federal Employees National Association. He served five years with the RCAF from 1940-1945 having served both overseas and in Canada. He worked with Transport Canada Meteorological Service until his retirement. He enjoyed his garden and all his summers spent at Maquapit Lake. His greatest joy was seeing his grandchildren growing up. He was a great historical book reader and chess player. He loved painting in oil and acrylic. The family wishes to thank Dr. Ann Colpitts, the Extra Mural Nurses, Bay Shore Care givers, Rev. Anthony Kwaw, Nancy Tracey and the many friends and neighbors who helped us through his illness. He was predeceased by his parents; his son John in 1983; daughter, Jane in 2006; two brothers and two sisters.
There will be no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held at the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Monday, May 23rd, 2011 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Anthony Kwaw officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in the Fernhill Cemetery.
