John Kennedy “Ken” Dunphy
Age 54 years young, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2018 at his residence in Dartmouth surrounded by his family. Born in Neil’s Harbour to Lenora (Williams) Dunphy and the late Bart Dunphy. Ken grew up in Ingonish Beach and at the age of 12 started work crab fishing. Later, he became a lobster fisherman and then a welding inspector. He worked in Newfoundland, Ontario, Gulf of Mexico, Netherlands, Saskatchewan and Alberta.
Ken was known for his love of dogs and his varied interests in motorcycles, gun collecting, archery, wine making, snowshoeing and tech gadgets.
Ken is survived by sons Ryan and Aiden; daughter, Emily; sisters, Kimberly (Percy), Bonnita (Jeremy); niece, Heather (Drew) and nephews, Brett and Kaelan.
Known as “Big John” to his buddies; the family would like to thank them for their kindness, generosity, visits and phone calls. Thanks also goes out to the people of Fort MacMurray for their help and kindness in a very difficult situation. The nursing staff at the Northern Lights Hospital were exceptional. Thank you also to Nova Scotia Palliative Care.
