Emily Eleda (Mitchell) Myers passed away peacefully at Extendicare Nursing Home in Moose Jaw on Tuesday, January 12, 2011 in her 94th year. Emily was born in Canora, SK, August 17, 1916 but grew up on a farm near Star City, SK. Emily married Victor Myers in Star City on April 25, 1938. Emily and Victor resided in Weyburn until August of 1959 and at that time moved to Moose Jaw, where they lived until their passing. Emily leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters Marilyn Haffner - Fort Saskatchewan, AB; Marlene Strank – Mission, BC; Gail (Rene) LeGrand – Medicine Hat, AB and one son, Alan (Janice) Myers – Kelowna, BC. Emily was a grandmother to ten grandchildren - Jody (Robert) LeGrand-Whelan - Fort Saskatchewan, AB; David Haffner – Toronto, ON; Danny (Debbie) Haffner - Moor Park, CA; Todd (Lissa) LeGrand - Regina; Sean Strank – Hamilton, MT; Mark LeGrand – Regina; Ryan (Danielle) Strank – Kamloops, BC; Shannon Myers - Saskatoon; Graham and Hailey Myers – Kelowna, BC; eleven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Emily also leaves to mourn one brother, Clarence (Ann) Mitchell of Star City, SK. She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Victor Michael Myers in 2008; three sisters - Ethel, Betty, Mickey and two brothers - Stan and Don. Our mother, was a very strong and independent woman and she will be missed by all. A Service of Remembrance will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend Dave Moore officiating. Interment of both Emily and Victor’s ashes will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Memorials to the Sask. Heart & Stroke Foundation, 279 3rd Ave. N., Saskatoon, S7K 2H8, would be appreciated. In living memory of Emily, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
