CAREW, Joan Mary (nee Brophy) (February 14th, 1935 - May 20th, 2011) — Passed peacefully away on Friday, May 20th, 2011, in the presence of her family, after a two year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Predeceased by her mother and father Elizabeth and John Brophy, and her sister Regina Riggs (Tommy). Leaving to mourn her loving husband Daniel; son Jamie; daughter Cindy; son-in-law Jim Eagan; her dear grandson Matthew (special friend Nicole Squires); sisters: Ruth Fahey (Phillip - deceased), Marie Gosse (Ed), Doreen Lester (Charles), Geraldine Cowan (John); brothers: Frank (Kay - deceased), Jim (Lorraine - deceased), Jack (partner Pauline), Basil (Lilian), Wayne (Theresa), Paul, Clifton (Charlotte). Also leaving to mourn, dear members of the Carew family; sisters-in-law Anne, Sheila, Marina Aita (Angelo), Eleanor Furlong (Ed); brothers-in-law Joe (Gertrude), Nick (Ruth), Pat (Jean), John; and a large number of special nieces, nephews, and friends. A special thank you to the staff at the Hoyles-Escasoni & Agnes Pratt Homes for their ever attentive and compassionate care. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Ave., Mount Pearl, on Sunday May 22nd from 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. and Monday May 23rd from 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Corpus Christi Parish on Tuesday May 24th, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. Interment to take place at a later date.
