William Harvey (Bud) Tice passed away on May 25, 2018 at the age of 88 with his family by his side. Dad was born on the family farm at Birch Hills, Sask.on Dec 30, 1929 to Joe and Jennie Tice along with four siblings. He was in grade six (age 12) when his dad got sick and he had to take over all the chores, etc. He worked on the farm and for Scott's Bros. and Shorty Foster on the dray. He married Evelyn Barbara (Babs) Austin in Nov, 1949. Dad had many jobs and travelled the four western provinces to feed his family. When he was done travelling we moved back to Birch Hills now as a family of six and he worked for Fred's Service and Dept. of Ferries. In Jan. of 1970 he went to Peace River and started working for Cariboo Construction with the Scobey's. The family moved up in June the same year. He worked on road building in the summer and the artic for the winter months until he retired at the age of 58 because of knee problems. The had got two quarters of homestead land in Weberville in 1972 and spent many days picking roots and improving the land for farming. Mom and dad moved into Heritage Tower in spring 2004. That summer mom was diagnosed with fourth stage ovarian cancer and passed away in June 2005. Dad remained at the towers, he had two knee replacements the next year. He met Grace Hutton who worked there. They became a couple until dads death. Because dad was on dialyisis they moved to an apartment across from the hospital. In 2016 dad had his foot amputated and moved into the Southerland Nursing Home where he spent the remainder of his days.
Dad was a fine gentleman with a kindness and a zest for life. He was always smiling and teasing someone. He was a great volunteer, loved his garden and his plants. Enjoyed sitting on the deck at the farm watching the birds with his old dog at his side. He made many friends whom he called family. Dad is survived by his companion Grace Hutton, Deb (Den) Manson, Bonnie Lizotte, Jo Ann (Brian) Martin, Rock (Carmen) Tice, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He has gone to join mom and dad Joe and Jenny Tice, wife Babs, in laws Bill and Martha Austin, brothers Bob and Phil and sister Faye Njaa, brothers and sister in law. Dad's funeral was held on May 30, 2018 and his ashes were spread in the valley he loved.
We would like to thank Pastor Dave Squires, The hemo-dialysis unit, the Sutherland Nursing home, Chapel of Memories and Belle Petroleum Centre for your care and compassion..
