Lorraine Florence Anderson (nee Unger) passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2009 at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK, at the age of 80 years. The funeral service was held on Saturday, August 22, 2009 from the First United Church with Reverend Bonita Chad officiating. The soloist was Kendra Anderson, only granddaughter of Lorraine. Pianist was Arlie Neufeld. A eulogy was delivered by her son, Robert Anderson Jr. Ushers included her sons-in-law Keith Best, Gary Janke and Andy Wudrich. Interment followed at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Swift Current, SK. Pallbearers included her grandchildren and their spouses; Dale and Kirsten Schwartz, Scott and Erin Janke, Kendra Anderson, Shane Janke, Travis Janke and honorary pallbearer Keon Schwartz. Lorraine is survived by her husband of 57 years, Robert Anderson; children Bob (Heather) Anderson, Bonnie Anderson, Judy (Keith) Best, Jenny (Gary) Janke and Allison (Andy) Wudrich; siblings Arthur (Paula) Unger, Gordon (Margaret) Unger, Robert (Karen Davis) Unger, Allan Unger and Dorothy English; in-laws Jim (Mady) Anderson, Lois (Larry) Falk, Shirley (Gord) Rossing, Donna (Julian) Nerada; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Lorraine was predeceased by her father Peter Unger, mother Emelia Unger (nee Bender), infant sister Marjorie, brother Glenn Unger and sister Irene Carizosa. Lorraine was born June 2, 1929 at Vanguard, SK, and attended Ettrick Bank School before moving to Swift Current at age 17. She married Robert Anderson in 1952 and had 5 children. Lorraine had several careers with her last employment, at the Palliser Regional Care Center, lasting 20 years. Lorraine was a long time member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. In her younger years she enjoyed dancing and bowling. She has always enjoyed playing board games and cards. She even played, and won, a game of cards the evening before she passed. Lorraine spent many hours embroidering and did beautiful work. She was an excellent cook and baker and enjoyed entertaining family and friends.
