AMIRAULT, Victor Joseph – age 81, Yarmouth, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 23, 2018. Born October 25, 1936 in West Pubnico, he was a son of the late Theodore and Eva (d’Entremont) Amirault. Vic began working with Sobeys at an early age and eventually made his way up to the position of Manager at Sobeys in Halifax. He then made a career change and worked the next 23 years as a social worker with the Department of Community Services, from which he retired. Many people will remember Vic for his gift of music. He began playing and entertaining at the age of nine and it became a lifelong passion for him; he played and sang at St. Ambrose Cathedral, local nursing homes as well as for various community organizations, to name but a few. He was a kind and charitable man who loved his family and friends and who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 2181 Yarmouth and enjoyed socializing at Tim Horton’s. Vic received many awards for his volunteer work including the Volunteer of the Year award. He is survived by his loving wife, Susie (McKenna) Amirault, along with his children, Daniel Powers (Mylene), Calgary; David Powers, Yarmouth; Gail (Steven) Moore, Bridgewater; Michelle (Logan) Yandle, New Zealand, as well as by three loving grandchildren, Jorja, Daniel and Erykah. He is also survived by loving nieces and nephews, Olen (Sheila) d’Entremont, Merle (Donna) d’Entremont, Chester d’Entremont, Florene (Pat) Brittain and Zena (Junior) Nickerson. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by his step-father, Evariste d’Entremont and a sister, Eleanor d’Entremont. Visitation took place from 6-8 p.m. Sunday with prayers at 7:00 at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. The funeral Mass was held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, July 30 at St. Ambrose Co-Cathedral, Yarmouth, Father Patrick O’Meara officiated. Interment followed in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. Donations in memory of Vic may be made to the Yarmouth SPCA or the Gilles Boudreau & Friends Cancer Help Fund.
