Noreen Edith (Ward) Hudson

It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of our mom, Noreen Edith Hudson, in her 93rd year on Friday, July 27, at Alderwood in Baddeck, with family at her side. Born December 5, 1925, in Eureka, Pictou County, to the late Wilfred and Wilena (Scott) Ward she was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was predeceased by her parents, as well as her brother, Wilbert, and sisters, Jean and Leslie. Mom was also predeceased by her husband, Roy Fisher Hudson in 1999; daughter-in-law, Linette, and granddaughter-in-law, Ronda.
Mom is survived by sister-in-law, Mina Sinclair; sons, Brian, Sandy (Janice), Stewart (Louise) and Graham; daughters, Elaine Allison (Gregor) and June MacKenzie (Jim); grandchildren, Jonathan (Cary Ann), Jeffrey (Chrissy) and Holly (Joe) Hudson, Izaak (Katie) and Nicholus (Kerri) Hudson, Iain (Hollie) Allison, Elaine and Emma MacKenzie; great-grandchildren, Fischer, Brock, Avery, Mila Hudson and Quinn Nicholas.
Mom’s career, when not corralling six rambunctious kids, was nursing. She spent many years as an RN at Alderwood. While Mom’s passions were gardening, knitting and baking, she especially enjoyed her bridge club and games of crib.
Mom was a recipient of her 70th year Jewel, Easter Star Celtic Star Chapter #19.
Mom also enjoyed following the Royal Family and had the pleasure of meeting HRH Princess Diana on the occasion of her visit to Nova Scotia.
Services will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at Greenwood United Church, Baddeck, visitation will be at 1-2:30 p.m., funeral to follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. Mary Jo Harrison officiating, funeral will begin with an Eastern Star service, private family burial to follow.
Family flowers only. Donations can be made to Alderwood Working Council or charity of your choice.
