Ruth McIntyre, of Sydney passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2009, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Hannah (MacLennan) Fraser.
Ruth served on the board of directors of Sydney City Hospital. She was a long time member of the Cape Breton PC Association. She was a charter and life member of the Ladies Auxiliary Branch 12, Royal Canadian Legion.
She is survived by children, Ruth Duffney MacInnes, Gordon (Bertha) Duffney, Debra (Ross) Culm; grandchildren, Scott MacInnes, Joe (Anna) MacInnes, Bev (Allan) MacNeil, Kim MacDougall, Heather Duffney (Troy), Cheryl Mugford (John), Eric Quinton; great-grandchildren, Connor, Kendra, Kyle, Kurtis and Jayden. Ruth is also survived by Duncan’s children, Pat Harding, Dawn McFadden, Bob McIntyre and their families.
Twice married she was predeceased by her husbands, William Duffney and Duncan McIntyre and a brother, Donald Fraser.
Under Ruth’s instructions there will be no visitation. Celebration of Ruth’s Life will take place on Friday 1:30 p.m. at Sydney Memorial Chapel. Interment will take place at Hardwood Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the SPCA or CB Special Olympics or charity of choice.
