Jordan Ora

Jordan, Ora, age 81, formerly of The Ponds, Pictou County, passed away on Friday, August 10, 2018, in the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Orville and Anna (Murdock) Mason. At home, Ora led a quiet life and reading was her passion. She enjoyed listening to country music, watching the History Channel, cooking, and visits from family and friends. Her happiest working years were spent in Port Hawkesbury as manager of the Bake Shop at Sobeys, where she was known as “The Old Doll”. She retired from there to help her brother with his new business, the LBR Variety Store, and her later years were spent caring for her husband and mother until their passings. Even with her failing health, the mention of her favourite treats or a smoke would produce a priceless smile. She maintained strong courage and faith until the very end. She is survived by daughters, Leanne Goodwin (Anthony Daemen), Meadow Green; and Wanda (Gordon) DeCoste, Havre Boucher; sons, Paul and Daniel, The Ponds; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brothers, Calvin (Chris) Mason, The Ponds, and Lewis (Helen) Mason, Merigomish. Predeceased by her husband, Orman “Nonnie”. Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 17 at 11 a.m. in Murray’s Point Cemetery, The Ponds, Reverend Gail Murdock presiding. Memorial donations may be made to the Murray’s Point Cemetery Fund. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of C.L. Curry Funeral Home, Antigonish. Online condolences: www.clcurry.com
