Agnes Irene Day October 31, 1915 - August 24, 2009
Agnes Day passed away peacefully on August 24, 2009. Beloved wife of the late Hank, who passed away in 1993. Deeply loved and admired by sons Barrie (Marg), Stony Plain; Murray (Sharon), Maple Ridge; and Rob (Tara), Regina. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Jim (Cheryl), Curtis, Tyler (Lisa), Steven (Kelly), Brent, Allison, Travis and her great grandchildren, Haley, Madison and Livia. Two treasured nephews, Reg Pike (Barb) and Rick Pike (Dee) are also mourning her passing. She was predeceased by her niece, Lorraine in 2008. Agnes was born on a farm near Swift Current, Saskatchewan shortly before the death of her father who was killed in the Great War. She and her late sister, Lillian spent their early years assisting their mother and a favourite uncle, the late Bert Harris, in their effort to eke out a living on the farm. These early years provided her with a solid foundation that provided the building blocks for a vibrant and full life. For many years much of her time was spent as a spectator and supporter of the many sporting activities of Hank and her children. As a senior she took up the sport of lawn bowling where she was successful at provincial and national levels. Throughout her life she kept in contact with a her father’s family in England through special cousins, Ann Spires and Bob Harris (Lyn). This led to the reunification of a family divided by distance and two world wars. The Harris clan remains an integral part of the family. In memory of her passing the family will host celebration of her life at W.J.Jones and Son Family Centre, 262 Athabasca Street E. in Moose Jaw from 1:00 to 3:00 pm on September 18, 2009. The family would like to extend sincere thanks and appreciation to the management and staff at Oxford Place Care Home and end-of-life care at Extendicare in Moose Jaw. In living memory of Agnes, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home. Please sign the memorial register at website: www.wjjonesandson.com (Obituaries).
