McNutt: Vera Gertrude, 95, of Wynn Park Villa Truro and formerly of Truro Heights and Upper North River, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at the Villa. Born in North River, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Selina (Lynds) McCallum and the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a member of the United Baptist Church in Nuttby and past president of the Nuttby WMS. She is survived by sons, Robert and wife (Eileen), Salmon River; Paul and wife (Dorothy), Valley; Philip and wife (Jean), Truro; daughter-in-law, Marjorie McNutt, Bible Hill; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Martin; son, William “Billy” McNutt; grandsons, Scott, Stephen and Michael McNutt; sisters, Elizabeth Geddes, Hazel Rath, Beatrice Rath, Myrtle Stewart; brothers, Roland, Sandy and Cecil McCallum. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9pm today August 27, funeral service 2pm Friday, August 28, all in the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro, Pastor Greg Porter officiating, with a reception to follow in the funeral home. Interment will then be held in the Aenon Baptist Cemetery, Central North River. Donations may be made to the Nuttby Baptist Church, the Aenon Baptist Cemetery or to a charity of your choice.
