Doctor André Crépeau, F.R.C.S. (C)

Passed in: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
Passed on: August 13th, 2018

The family of Doctor André Crépeau, F.R.C.S. (C) is sorry to announce his passing away on Monday, August 13th.
Son of Louis de Gonzague and Marie Laure Crépeau (Brochu), he leaves behind his beloved wife of 60 years, Yolande (deCelles), his sons Françoys (Xuong) and Yves, as well as the sunshine of his heart, his beloved grandson Vincent. He also leaves his brothers and sisters Maurice (Suzanne), Jacques (Mary), Louise (Ken), and Robert (Suzanne), and in-laws Léandre (Andrée) and Pauline. His dear sisters Flore and Françoise predeceased him.
After graduating in 1950 from Université Sainte Anne, in Nova Scotia, he received his doctorate in medicine in 1955 from the Université Laval. He continued his studies by doing a residency in general surgery at the Henry Ford Hospital, in Detroit, Michigan, as well as a residency in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery at the Good Samaritan and Olive View hospitals, in Los Angeles, California. He then returned to Canada in 1963 to establish himself in Ottawa, where he practiced in many hospitals in the area. But he worked more than half of his life at the Ottawa General Hospital, pursuing his true passion: surgery, all the while training other surgeons who are now practicing in many countries.
His family wishes to thank doctors Atkins, Fitzgibbons, and nurse Wendy Petrie. Special thanks to Doctor Louise Coulombe. We also owe a debt of gratitude to the health care professionals of the Ottawa General Hospital’s 6 South East wing.
Visitations took place at the Racine, Robert & Gauthier Funeral Home, at 180 Montréal Road, in Ottawa, on Friday, September 7th, from 2 to 4 PM, and from 7 to 9 PM. A Memorial Service took place at the Sainte Geneviève Church, at 825 Canterbury Avenue, Ottawa, on Saturday, September 8th, at 11 AM, followed by a reception in the parish hall downstairs.
We would be grateful for donations to be made to the Myeloma Canada society, so that it may continue to assist in research to fight this disease.
