BELLIVEAU, JOSEPH "BASIL" - At the Fundy Nursing Home, Blacks Harbour, NB on May 24, 2011, Mr. Joseph “Basil” Belliveau, husband of the late Mrs. Marie Margaret “Helen” Belliveau of Blacks Harbour, NB. Born in Nova Scotia on December 21, 1925, he was a son of the late Simeon and Eugenie (Comeau) Belliveau. A loving father, grandfather and brother, he is survived by two daughters; Rita (James) Wilcox of Pennfield, NB and Anne Amirault of Caplan QC, three sons; Gerald (Norma) Belliveau, Alvin (Marion) Belliveau and Johnny (Dora) Belliveau all of Pennfield, NB, 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, one brother, Emile Belliveau (Ora Noddin) of Pennfield,NB, five sisters; Yvonne (Bill) Gaudet of Hantsport, NS, Cecile Gaudet of Digby, NS, Katie Myatt of Owen Sound, ON, Alda Boudreau of Blacks Harbour, NB and Evelyn Theriault of Pennfield, NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his wife, Helen, he was predeceased by two brothers; Arcade and Eddie Belliveau and by two sisters; Obeline Belliveau and Margaret Gaudet. Prior to his retirement Basil was self employed, operating both a store and bottle exchange center in Pennfield for many years. He was an avid woodworker who loved working with his hands, either creating something from wood or spending his time gardening. He was especially known for his beautifully decorated home during Christmas which drew many visitors each year. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB with visiting on Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Blacks Harbour, NB on Friday at 11:00 am with Father Rolando Suplido officiating followed by the interment at the parish cemetery. In Basil’s memory, donations to the Fundy Nursing Home or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. (www.stgeorgefh.ca)
