J. Preston Beairsto

“In the midst of life there is death.” Those words became reality to the family, friends and neighbours of J. Preston Beairsto of Kensington, when they acknowledged his passing at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I., on Monday, May 23, 2011.
Preston was born in South Kildare, P.E.I., on October 14, 1939, the eldest son of the late John and Beatrice (Arthur) Beairsto. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 52 years Dorothy Beairsto (nee Dyment) formerly of Northam, P.E.I., and their three children, Ron (Jeri Hennigar) Beairsto, Upper Kingsburg, N.S.; Heather (Robert) Lane, Windsor, N.S.; Marlon Beairsto, Halifax, N.S.; brother Ivan (Gertrude) Beairsto, St. Eleanors, P.E.I.; brothers-in-law James (Junior) Hickey, Darnley, P.E.I., and James (Anna Jean) Dyment, Northam, P.E.I.; sisters-in-law Georgie (Wilson) Buffett, Orleans, ON.; Shirley (James) Fitzgerald, Cambridge, ON.; Katherine Dyment (partner Jason), Estey’s Bridge, N.B.; stepsisters Janice Hardy, Rhonda Allen; stepbrother Randall Smith; six grandchildren who will greatly miss “Grampie” which he was lovingly called by granddaughters Dana Lane and Emma Beairsto, grandsons Marshall Lane, Samuel Beairsto, Russell Beairsto, Iain Beairsto, also by Owen and Alyssa Hennigar to whom he became very fond of, as well as three aunts, one uncle, many nieces, nephews, cousins and the staff of South Shore Glass in Bridgewater, N.S.
He was predeceased by his sister Erma Hickey, brothers-in-law Charles and David Dyment, nieces Sandra Hickey and Charlene Dyment, stepfather Wallace Smith.
Resting at the Davison Funeral Home, Kensington, for visitation on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Friday in the Davison Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. Interment in the United Church Cemetery, Tyne Valley.
No flowers by request, if so desired contributions may be made to the ALS Society of P.E.I.
