SCOTCH HILL - Brent Ernest MacDonald, 46, of Scotch Hill, Pictou County, passed away August 26, 2009, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Pictou, he was a son of James Ernest MacDonald, of Scotch Hill, and the late Betty Anna Mae (Redmond) MacDonald.
Brent worked as a carpenter and was a former employee of the Pictou Shipyard. He was also a Legion member and enjoyed playing darts. Most of all Brent was a Bluegrass music fan, and loved to play the guitar, harmonica and the mandolin.
He is survived by his wife, Beatrice (Myers) MacDonald; son, Mitchel MacDonald (Jessica), Three Brooks; step-sons, Frank Hawes (Courtney), Stellarton; Dennis Hawes (Nicole), Pictou; grandchildren: Ryan, Caden, Briden, Gabriel and Alexis; brothers, Bert (Vickie), Bill, both of Scotch Hill; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Besides his mother Brent was predeceased by his grandparents, May and James MacDonald, Annabelle and Harry Redmond; special uncle, Frank Redmond.
Visitation will be held 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Friday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral service will take place 11 a.m. Saturday in McLaren Funeral Home Chapel, Pictou, with Mary MacDermid officiating. Burial will be in Scotch Hill Cemetery.
