Passed peacefully at the L.A. Miller Centre on Wednesday, August 26, 2009, Helen Shirley Hamlyn (nee Pike) at the age of 85. Predeceased by her son Paul in 1954. Leaving to mourn is her husband of 62 years, Robert; sons David (Patricia) Hamlyn of London, Ont. and Robert; grandchildren Jennifer, Kristine, Stephen, Paul, Andrea, Raymond and Kelly; great-grandchildren Addison and Calder; brothers Frank (Clara) Pike, Richard (Betty) Pike, Stewart Pike and Robert (Olivia) Pike; sisters Ruth (Gerry) Butler of Halifax and Lorna Clouter; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Helen spent many years working at Bay Bulls Trading Company. She also was an integral part of the UCW at Gower Street United Church and enjoyed her time at Westview Village Community. Visitation at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave., on 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday, August 28, 2009. Funeral service will be held at Gower Street United Church on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen’s name may be made to the L.A.
