Born on July 23, 1917, in Clam Point, Shelburne Co., she was a daughter to the late Freeland and Matilda (Perry) Nickerson. Alice lived in Manitoba in her younger years where she met her husband John Ruse before moving back to Nova Scotia in the 1960’s. Once back in Nova Scotia she worked at Zellers in Kentville and Yarmouth. She was an active member of Zion Baptist Church until it was closed and demolished in 2014. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband John; and siblings, Elmer “Barney”, David, Blanchard, Owen, Raymond, Ellsworth, Harvey, Rita and Sarah. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation was held Friday, October 19, 2018 from 7-9 P.M. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service was held Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 2 P.M . in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. A.D. “Bill” Newell officiated. Interment followed in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery.
