On Tuesday, May 24, 2011 David passed away at the Royal Inland Hospital, Kamloops.
He was predeceased by his parents Mary and Joseph Schmidt, his brothers Frank and Ken and his sister Betty.
David will be lovingly remembered by wife Joyce, daughters Deborah and Diane (Tom); grandchildren Anne (Ryan), Christine (John), Michael (Olivia) and Kevin; and great grandchildren RenÈe and Cooper.
Born on June 25, 1928 in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan, David grew up in Swift Current, Saskatchewan and joined the RCAF in 1948 as an LAC, moving up through the ranks, he was commissioned in 1966; retiring as a Captain in 1976. He married Joyce in 1951 in London, Ontario. After a posting to Marville, France in 1957 most of his career was spent in Ottawa, Ontario. After retiring he and Joyce settled in Kamloops. He was involved with the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 52 and the RCAF Association, 441 Squadron, being the Sponsoring Committee Chair to the Air Cadets for many years.
He will be lovingly remembered
by family and friends.
Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, May 30, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with The Reverend Father Peter Nguyen celebrant.
Due to allergies, no flowers please, donations to the RIH Foundation, 311 Columbia Street, Kamloops, B.C., V2C 2T1, in memory of David would be appreciated.
David will be laid to rest at the National Military Cemetery in Ottawa.
