James \'Jim\' MacNeil

It is with great sadness that we, the family, regret to announce the passing of James \'Jim\' MacNeil on Aug. 7, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Reserve Mines, he was the son of the late Joe G. and Annie (Mac Donald) MacNeil.
Jim attended Royal Roads Academy, later returning home he received an art degree from St. FX, also majoring in mathematics and economics. He was employed as area manager for the Department of Sydney Manpower Center until his retirement. Jim spent many winters in Florida and enjoyed traveling with his loving wife. He also had a passion for golf and computers.
He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley (Snow) MacNeil; his sister, Muriel Catherine Simpkin; two brothers, Joe (Valerie) MacNeil and Donald (Terry) MacNeil.
Besides his parents, James was predeceased by his adopted brother, Johnny.
A celebration of Jim’s life will take place 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 31 at the S.W Chant & Son Funeral Home Chapel, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. Reception to follow with interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
