CARTER, George David - 81, of Kentville, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2011 in Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville. Born in Lower Canard, Kings County, he was a son of the late Archibald and Ellen (Brewster) Carter. In his younger years, he enjoyed working in the woods and was employed on several farms throughout the area. He was later employed for a number of years with A.C.A Co-op, from where he retired. He was a former member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Habitant Branch No. 73, Canning and enjoyed camping. He is survived by two sisters, Florence (Truman) Fraser, Bridgewater and Edna (Frank) Harvie, Kentville; a brother, Lloyd (Joan Smith), Kentville; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Lillian Vidito. Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2011 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2011, Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. Burial took place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings County. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or Visual Research, Atlantic Oddfellow-Rebekah.
