It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of Joseph Francis Donato, age 65, announce his passing on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax.
Born in Sydney Mines on June 4, 1953, Joe was the son of Frank Donato and the late Violet (Lynk) Donato.
Joe worked for many years at National Sea, and travelled as far as Alaska, teaching locals how to preserve their catch. He was an avid fisherman and was at total peace by the water. He also enjoyed his weekly Tarabish game, shooting pool, nightly fire in the hood with his neighbours, and he was a master story teller.
Joe leaves behind his loving wife of 47 years, Joanne (Brown); daughter, Judy; son, James (Amanda); grandchildren, Kate, Maria, Sophia and Cooper; sisters, Judy (Aubrey), and Mary, and brothers, Frankie (Susan), and Jake.
Besides his mother, Joe was predeceased by his son, Joshua (Ryan).
A private family service has been held. A celebration of Joe’s life will take place at a later date.
