John Atkinson
The death occurred, peacefully, with family (his wife, daughter-in-law and friends) by his side at the Kings County Memorial Hospital on November 21, 2018 of John A. Burck of Montague. Age 79. John was born in Amherstburg, Ontario. Lovingly remembered by wife, Nancy Perkins-Burck; children John, “Marty” (Kassandra) and Michael (Leah); and step-children Arnold, Peter, Mark, Jon and Eric Blumberg. Also remembered by the Martin family. Predeceased by parents Allan & Gladys Burck; first wife, Kathleen (nee Martin) and step-daughter Diane Blumberg. John had an illustrious career: being a member of the Merchant Marine, Vancouver Police Department, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and a longtime captain at Northumberland Ferries Ltd. John was the mainstay and Captain of the Montague Air Cadet Squadron and longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion. John was a published writer and a longtime volunteer having just received recognition as one of “Montague’s one hundred volunteers”. Resting at Southern Kings & Queens Funeral Home, Murray River. A Celebration of Life will be held with completed arrangements to be announced.
