It is with deep sadness that we the family, regret to announce the passing of Sadie Parsons Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009.
Born in Baleine/Big Lorraine, she was the daughter of the late John and Ida (Leahy) Williams.
Sadie spent most of her life as a cook for Tartan Tea Room, Lewis & Company, A&K Lick–a-Chick, Potagé Restaurant and cooking for the Highway Company Camp. She was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Fortress Seniors club.
Sadie is survived by her three sonss, Ernest (Barbara), Archie (Margaret) and John (Loretta); four daughters, Ida (Donald) Eisan, Glady (Andrew) Barter, Alice (Paul) Perron and Joan (William) Wadden; 26 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Sadie was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Parsons, two sons, Robert Henry and Mathew John, two grandchildren, Lisa and Jason Blackwood, six brothers, Leo, Archie, Harry, Bob, George and Jack Williams, three sisters, Theresa Nicholson, Bridget Parsons and Alice Parsons in infancy.
A special thank you goes to our sister Joan and her husband Billy Wadden for special care of mom at their home.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Sept. 1 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the S.W. Chant and Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. A funeral service will take place 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2 at St. Bartholomew’s Church, Louisbourg, with Rev. Glenn Kent officiating.
Donations can be made to St. Bartholomew’s Cemetery Fund or to Palliative Care.
