Aileen Hale
HALE, AILEEN BLANCHE, passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. NS.
A daughter of the late Samuel and Blanche (Facey) Fillier, she was born in Westville on October 4, 1919, where she grew up and spent her early years of married life before moving to Stellarton. She was very active in her community and served on the Board of Stewards of Sharon St. John United Church for many years, where she was also a long time member of the UCW. She was a life member of the Albion Chapter of the IODE. She was employed as the bookkeeper for the Children’s Aid Society of Pictou County for over 29 years. Aileen was loved and respected by her many friends and extended family. She was a good friend, sought out for her pragmatic and caring advice, had a great sense of humour and loved nothing more than spending time with her family, who she supported and loved unconditionally.
She was predeceased by her husband Ted (1992), brothers Sam, Herb, Bill and Jack Fillier and sister Alma Dunbar. She is survived by her son Lance (Carol) Hale, daughters Sharon Hale and Rosalind (Mark) Penfound, grandchildren Andrew (Elizabeth) Hale, Sara (Tim) Boudreau, Kate and Will Penfound, and great grandchildren, Robert and Katherine Hale and Charlie Boudreau, as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff and friends at High Crest Place, Valley View Villa and the Aberdeen Hospital for their caring attention over the last few years, as well as Dr. Marion MacDonald who provided such exemplary care for many years.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton. A memorial service to be held at Sharon St. John United Church at 2:00 pm. on Thursday, June 2, 2011 with Rev. John Roy presiding. Reception to follow in the church hall. No flowers by request.
