Harley Marr

MARR, HARLEY - April 7, 1957 - May 27, 2011 - Harley Edward Marr (54) passed away peacefully at the Moncton Hospital with his loving wife Jennifer (Bamford) by his side. He will be sadly missed by his daughters Virginia (Jeremy Gillmore) and Alexandria as well as his son Joel, his beautiful new granddaughter Harlow Gillmore, his brothers Andy (Beth-Anne) and Bill (Tobi) and sister Donna (Paul Cowan), sister-in-law Michelle (Jim Gilmore), mother Frances (Allen Northrup) and countless family members, friends and acquaintances near and far. He is predeceased by his father, Daryl and his brother, Steven. Harley was born in Sussex, NB and raised in the beautiful community of Corn Hill on a farm with his Mom, Dad, brothers and sister. Harley was an amazing person who loved God, loved his family, loved people and enjoyed life on so many levels. He fought a courageous six year battle with cancer and significantly outlived the expectations of the medical professionals. He never wanted cancer to define his life and wanted his life to be significant for the Glory of God and helping others who share this insidious disease. Harley’s Heroes was formed as a Relay For Life team towards the goal of finding a cure. Harley was about so much more than what you would expect, as he had great insight and wisdom after experiencing many of life’s ups and downs. He was always willing to share these insights if it was welcomed, and was a tremendous encouragement to many, even when he must have been discouraged himself. He was passionately involved in a Men’s group which met at Fairhaven Funeral home as well as a board member of the Harvest House mission (High Street). Over the years he was involved in various leadership roles and ministries at The Journey Church (formerly Allison Baptist Church) on the Salisbury Road. Harley’s focus of living for Jesus here and now was never more defined than in his last years with us all. His passion to see Christ’s name spread and encouragement for people to put their faith in Jesus was most pronounced in what had to be his toughest hour personally. It is because of that deep faith in Christ and his relationship with Christ we can all take tremendous comfort in knowing exactly where he is now and the freeing effect that has on all of us who loved him and wanted the best for he and his family.
Resting at The Journey Church (formerly Allison Baptist Church) with visitation on Monday, May 30, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be held at The Journey Church on Tuesday, May 31 at 2pm followed by a reception in the church hall. Interment to follow in Corn Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (Harley's Heroes), Harvest House Ministries or donations to the family would be appreciated.
