Born In: Baddeck, Nova Scotia, Canada
Born: February 5th, 1950

Passed in: New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Canada
Passed on: December 18th, 2018

E. Anne MacLeod (nee MacKay) of Campbell Hill Road, Pictou County, Nova Scotia passed away peacefully in the Aberdeen Palliative Care Unit in the early morning hours of December 18th, 2018, at the age of 68, after a brief struggle with cancer.
Born in Baddeck, Cape Breton on February 5, 1950, Anne grew up as the eldest daughter in a loving, close-knit family, spending much of her time with her horses, which she adored. After marrying Sandy, the love of her life, she moved to Pictou County, where she became a homemaker, mother, and an expert gardener. After her husband’s passing, Anne raised her son on her own while producing beautiful, intricately hand-sewn quilts for local vendors. A lover of reading, animals (especially her beloved Labrador retrievers), and good conversation around the kitchen table, Anne will be remembered by those who knew her for her sharp mind, dry wit, wise advice, and steadfast independence.
Anne is predeceased by her parents, Robert “Sharky” and Barbara (MacLean) MacKay, and her husband, Alexander Ian “Sandy” MacLeod. She is survived by her son Robert “Robbie” MacLeod, his wife Laurel (nee Scanlan), and siblings Margaret (Chuck) Spinney, Bob (Pam) MacKay, Fred (Lyn Duchesney) MacKay, and Allison (Peter) Gingell, along with numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. She felt a special gratitude to longtime friends and neighbors Gordon and Hilda Peckham, who were of great assistance and support both before and during her illness.
At Anne’s request, no formal funeral or visitation will be observed. In lieu of flowers, donations in Anne's memory can be made to your local SPCA, or the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Society.
