Vida Plumridge
Passed on: December 22nd, 2018
It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother, Vida Plumridge (Lake), on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Harbourstone Enhanced Care. Born on July 27, 1924 in Sydney, NS, she was the daughter of the late Rhoda and Thomas Lake.
She was a member of Christ the King Anglican Church, Sydney and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She has ended her journey here with us to be with the love of her life, her husband Bill.
Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her brother, Clarence; sisters, Jenny Cameron, Gladys Rudolph, Dorothy Johnson, and her granddaughter, Jessica Plumridge.
In her early years Mom worked at the Gaum Clinic in Whitney Pier. After marrying Dad, she stayed at home to take care of her family. She loved to knit, sew and bake. Saturday nights you would find Mom baking and Dad watching Hockey Night in Canada.
Mom and Dad loved to camp, starting out with a tent and over the years moving up to a travel trailer. They spent five months of the year between Cheticamp Highlands National Park and Ben Eoin campgrounds.
Mom will be sadly missed by daughters, Judy (Brian Mercer), Debbie (Kevin MacNeil); son, Tom (Florence); grandchildren, Andrew and Bryna Mercer (Nearing), Matthew, David and Peter MacNeil, and Jeffrey and Jason Plumridge; great-grandchildren, Brycen, Colby, Lila and Paige.
We are so grateful for the loving care Mom received during the five years she lived at Harbourstone, Soldiers Cove. Thank you to all the staff. We would also like to recognize the wonderful services provided to us from Palliative Care.
Visitation will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel, on Thursday, December 27, 2018 from 1-3 p.m. with the funeral service at 3 p.m., with Rev Peter Rafuse officiating. Interment at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
