Dorothy "Dot" Elizabeth (nee Toombs) White

Age 95, of Falmouth, NS and formerly of Halifax, NS, and Tryon, PEI, passed away peacefully at Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth, December 26th, 2018. Born in Darlington, PEI, October 24th, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Walton and Florence (Ramsay) Toombs. She lived her early years in North Wiltshire and Charlottetown and in 1945 she married Ernest White. They made their home in Charlottetown, Halifax, Shelburne and retired to Tryon, PEI in 1971. Mom was active in the church, United Church Women and Women's Institute of PEI. In addition to her love of family and community activities, mom loved to garden. Just like her mother, our mother had beautiful gardens. In the early 1970's mom and dad built and managed Redcliffe Downs Campground in Hampton, PEI where they made lifelong friends. Dot and Ernie loved travel and camping and did so well into their senior years. Dot is survived by her children, Carroll Collins (Jim Isenor), Lantz, NS; David (Kathryn), Lower Sackville, NS; Lynda (Graham) Hodder, St. Croix, NS; Kevin (Cathy), Falmouth, NS, 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, sister Norma Proud-Gorveatt, brother Elwin Toombs, brother-in-law Al Kane, and numerous nieces, nephews and other family. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, G. Ernest, sisters Eleanor MacKay, Muriel MacLeod, and son-in-law Henry Collins. Visiting hours are Friday, January 4th, 2019, from 4 - 8 p.m. at Dawson Funeral Home, Crapaud, PEI. Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 5th, at @2:00 pm at South Shore United Church, Tryon, PEI. Rev. Dr. Karen MacLeod-Wilkie officiating. As well a memorial service will be held on Monday, January 7th, 2019, at 10 a.m. at Fairview United Church, Dutch Village Road, Halifax, NS. Rev. Angela MacLean officiating. Mom loved flowers, so flowers are welcome, but please be scent neutral. Donations in memory may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or charity of choice. The family is deeply appreciative of the loving care provided by the caregivers and volunteers at Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth, NS.
