Peacefully, on Dec. 26, 2018 Barbara Crosby departed this life at the Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck, NS.
She was predeceased by parents, Murdock Robert MacLeod and Catherine (MacFarlane) MacLeod; husbands, Dean Crosby and Sandy Matheson; brothers and sisters, Robert S. MacLeod (Eveline), Janet MacLeod (Buddy), Nelson MacLeod and Isabel MacDonald (Donnie).
Survived by daughters, Ferne Reeve (David) and Kerry MacLean; grandchildren, Andrew MacLean (Chelsea Morrison) and Zoe Reeve (Adam Smith); great grandchildren, William and Brody MacLean; sister-in-law, Helen MacLeod; as well as 13 nieces and nephews, countless friends, many grateful students.
Energized by the Celtic values of the St. Ann’s Bay area, a graduate of Normal School (Teacher’s College), St. FX, she excelled as a teacher, friend and community member. She loved family, children, Celtic music, a good story, and was always on the lookout for a reason to laugh. She actively supported her church, its choir, the Eastern Star, and the Lion’s Club. We are grateful for her long life, her many friendships and the gentle support given to her in the last number of years.
Heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Alderwood Long-term care facility, MacLeod House, the loving care of her nieces and nephews, particularly Mary MacLeod who became like a third daughter.
A service of Celebration and Remembrance, conducted by Rev. Brian MacLeod, will take place at Knox Presbyterian Church, Baddeck, at a future date.
