Mary Lou Marshall

Passed in: Middleton, Canada
Passed on: December 30th, 2018

Marshall (Todd), Mary Lou, Age 86, of Bridgetown, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2018 at Heart of the Valley Care Centre, Middleton. Mary Lou was born on the farm, to the late Mark and Gladys (Swift) Todd of West Dalhousie, Annapolis County and was one of four girls. Growing up on the farm meant many hours of helping her dad with the chores, especially haying and harvesting the family garden. Mary Lou attended school in the one-room schoolhouse in her community. Later she found work at Mac Doog's restaurant in Bridgetown and there she met and married the love of her life, Russell Marshall. Russell was enlisted with the Royal Canadian Army which meant together, along with their son, Blake, they travelled and lived in many provinces within Canada and also lived in Germany. Mary Lou made many lasting friendships on her travels. They settled down in their cozy home in Bridgetown. Mary Lou was employed at the Pharmasave Drug Store in Middleton and she also became very active in the "AA" Program in Bridgetown. She became a Sponsor within her group and was dedicated to her many group members - she loved them all. She was a kind and generous person and loved her family dearly and on their visits home from Calgary, she excelled in making their favorite foods which became her trademark - no one could make chicken drumette, potato salad, seafood chowder and raspberry twirl like my mom. After Russell's passing, Mary Lou experienced ill health and moved to Heart of the Valley Care Centre. Mary Lou was predeceased by her husband, Russell and son, Brian in infancy. She is survived by her son, Blake and his wife Karen, grand-daughter, Denean (Dan), and great-grandsons, Marshall and Damian; sisters, Peggy Meisner, Verna Bishop and Donna (Bud) Wefer. The family would like to extend special thanks to the excellent staff of Heart of the Valley Care Center for their care, compassion and friendship. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home. A funeral service was held 11 am, Saturday January 5, 2019 in Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown, with Pastor Herb Anderson officiating. Reception followed in funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia or charity of choice. Online condolences may be made at www.kaulbachfamilyfuneralhome.com
