We, the family of Ethel Blakeburn announce her passing on Monday, May 30, 2011, at the Northside Community Guest Home.
She was the daughter of Joseph and Sadie Eddy.
Ethel was a faithful member of the Gospel Hall, Sydney, for all of her adult life.
In her earlier years, she was a member of the Nova Scotia Bird Society and enjoyed gardening. Ethel loved to knit and cook and bestow family and friends with gifts of mittens, socks or fresh cookies and pies.
Ethel is survived by her son, Ralph (Sharon), Dartmouth; daughters, Vilma, Sydney, Karen (Wallace), Alder Point, Judith (Wilfred), Hillsburgh, Ont., Diane, Sydney, Heather (David) and Evelyn, Ottawa. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren; nine great-granfchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; one brother, Lloyd Eddy, Howie Centre, and sister-in-law, Angela Blakeburn.
Besides her parents, Ethel was predeceased by her husband, Roy Blakeburn, grandson, Ron Zinck, six sisters and five brothers.
There will be visitation at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, June 7 at 2 p.m. followed immediately at 3 p.m. by a memorial service officiated by David Swan. Private family committal.
