John Finnie

FINNIE, JOHN LYNTON - It is with great sadness that the family of John "Jack" Finnie announce his death at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Monday, May 30th, 2011 at the age of 73. Born in Fredericton on September 18th, 1937, he was the husband of Shirley (Boulter) Finnie of Lincoln. John leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Shirley; son, John Joseph (Melissa) Finnie of Lincoln; daughters, Kimberley (Steven) Munn of Taxis River, Karen Young of Lincoln and Lori Walsh of Waasis; brothers, Robert (Bonnie) Finnie of Lincoln, Stanley (Shirley) Finnie of Lincoln and Donald Finnie of Scotch Lake; sisters, Margaret Jackson of Springhill and Carol Wall of Lincoln; grandchildren, Patrick, Bradley and Michelle; great grandchildren, Jack, Brayden and Brenden; as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was predeceased by his parents, Lynton and Olive (MacArthur) Finnie; brothers, Irvine, Charles and Gerald; sister, Mary. John was a chartered member of the Lincoln Lions Club and a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 4. He was an avid NASCAR fan and spent much of his spare time at Speedway 660 in Geary.
Visitation will be held at Oromocto Funeral Home, 108 Winnebago St., on Thursday, June 2nd, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 4 will hold a tribute service at 7 pm. The memorial service will take place at the Oromocto Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, June 3rd at 2 pm with Pastor Steve Ranni officiating. Interment will follow in the Lower Lincoln Cemetery.
