Passed on: January 26th, 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Magdalen “Jiggie” MacIsaac, age 104, on Saturday, January 26, 2019. Formerly of 20 Cornishtown Road, Sydney, NS., Jiggie resided at the MacGillivray Guest Home and previously Carefield Manor in Sydney.
Born in Whitney Pier (Broadway), she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Grace (Kennedy) Colford.
During 59 years of marriage, Jiggie was a member of St. Theresa’s Parish, where she participated in the Catholic Women’s League. She was also a member of the Home and School Association during her early years. Later in life, Jiggie returned to her beloved Holy Redeemer Parish and rarely missed a Mass, where she enjoyed the company of friends and community. She loved to knit, sew and read. For many years, Jiggie looked forward to swimming at their summer place in East Bay, where she spent many happy days with her husband and son. She also enjoyed storytelling about the Pier amongst family and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, James and infant grandson. The last surviving member of her immediate family, Jiggie was predeceased by her sister, Marcella MacLennan and three brothers, George, Tom and Ignatius “Dick”. She was also predeceased by her nieces, Joan and Cheryl Colford and nephews, Lorne Colford and Wilbert MacLennan.
Special mention and sincere thanks to grandnephew, Peter Colford, his parents, Leon and Dola Colford and niece, Diane MacAskill for their continuous loving care of Jiggie while in the nursing homes. We would like to thank the staff for the outstanding compassion and care of Jiggie while at the MacGillivray Guest Home.
