With broken hearts the family announces the passing of Nelson Leo Dixon of White Point on January 27, 2019. Nelson was best friend, soul mate and husband to Lisa (nee McEvoy).
Nelson loved the ocean and fished out of White Point, starting with his dad as a young boy. He was a kind and gentle man who loved a good prank and a good laugh. Nelson always put his family and friends first.
Nelson leaves behind his wife of 38 years, Lisa; daughters, Nicolle and son-in-law, James Orchard; Holly Leah and fiancée, Tim Stewart and son, David Janssen. He also leaves behind “Poppy’s loves” Neil and Franny Orchard.
Nelson is also survived by sisters, Amarlis (late Richard MacDonald) and their sons, Shane and Byron; Marie and Jerry Briand and their sons, Jason and Jeffrey; Mary and Glen Fricker and children, AJ, Rebecca, Daniel and Dylan; brothers, John; William Dan Jr. and AnnMarie and their daughters, Kathy, Kelsey and Jesslyn; Todd and Angie and their children, Blake, Seleena and Shyann. He also leaves behind Lisa's family who love him dearly.
Nelson was predeceased by his father and mother, William Dan and Eliza (nee Fitzgerald); his brother, Francis, in infancy and by his father and mother-in-law, John and Frances McEvoy.
As per Nelson’s wish there will be no formal funeral. Family and friends are invited to meet Saturday February 2nd at Fillmore Whitman Funeral Home in Ingonish from 1 to 3 p.m., for a celebration of his life.
In lieu of flowers, donations, if desired, in Nelson’s memory may be made to, St. Paul’s Historical Society, in Dingwall. This was a society that was very dear to his heart.
