Lawrence Boutilier
Passed on: February 2nd, 2019
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Lawrence Boutilier in his 97th year on Saturday, February 02, 2019 at Harbourstone Enhanced Care. Lawrence was born in Little Pond on August 25, 1921 to the late Theresa (MacNeil) and Bert Boutilier.
Lawrence hung his Stetson in Point Edward after marrying the love of his life, Kaye. He was a devoted family man who was always up for a game of Tarabish. When you saw Lawrence about, he was always smartly dressed and had a twinkle in his eye; you knew he was about to say something that would bring a smile to anyone’s face. Constantly busy, but never in a rush, you would often see him in his straw hat, tinkering around the yard or garage working on various projects. He was a dedicated member of the Holy Rosary Parish in Westmount. Lawrence was a retired employee of the Sydney Steel plant.
He is survived by his daughter, Valerie (Myles) Ross, North Sydney; son, Bruce, Point Edward; sister, Agnes Currie and her son, Bert, who had a special relationship with Lawrence. He is also survived by his much-loved grandchildren, Jeremy (Tracy), Dartmouth, Matthew (Melissa), Quebec and Catherine (Luc), Grand Bay-Westfield. He will be missed dearly by his great-grandkids, Spencer, Kate, Lucy, Lia, Lena and Nora, who always brought a smile to his face.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by, his loving wife, Kaye (Cummings); his siblings, Sidney, John, Cassie, Stanley, Hector and Garfield.
The family would like to thank the caring staff of Lavatte Lane for looking after ‘Larry’.
Cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass to celebrate Lawrence’s life will be held Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines with Fr. James Olives officiating.
