Derek passed peacefully at home on February 3, 2019 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Derek was born on November 5, 1959 in Brighton and Hove, UK. He is predeceased by his mother Elizabeth; uncles Brian, Bud, Douglas, John and Peter; aunts Barbara, Brenda, Gwenda and Patricia; and grandparents William and Anna Lush and Vera Holmes. Derek leaves to mourn his father Michael; brothers Brian and Ted; sister Michelle; children Krissy (Greg), Tracy (Andrew), Ciaran and Orla; wife Fionnuala; uncles Ted and William; aunts Helen, Mary and Patsy; nephews, a niece, and a large circle of cousins; as well as colleagues and friends. Special thanks to Dr. Stephen Major and the staff at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital for the care that they provided. Visitation will take place on Thursday, February 7 from 12-9 p.m. at Caul's Funeral Home, 84 LeMarchant Road. On Friday, February 8, a celebration of Derek's life will be held at The Space, 72 Harbour Drive. The celebration will start at 7 p.m. and all are welcome.
