Archibald George 'Archie' MacNevin

Archibald George “Archie” MacNevin passed away peacefully Sunday, February 10, 2019, at his family home in his beloved Catalone.
Archie was born August 26, 1939, in Catalone, Cape Breton.
He worked in construction as a machine operator and then as a batch plant operator for Municipal Ready Mix, retiring at the age of 67. For 20 seasons, Archie also worked for the Department of Highways as a snow plow operator in Catalone and surrounding areas. He was part of the committee that organized and established the Catalone Recreation Association. During the winter, he loved spending time on the ski-doo with family and friends and summers were spent with family and friends on Catalone Lake. Archie was a powerful man with a big heart. His wife, children and grandchildren were his life and they all loved him. Archie was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him. Dad you were so loved and will be greatly missed.
Loving husband of Annie (Carter); cherished father of Scott MacNevin (Lorraine), Catalone Gut and Treena MacNevin (Tony Troke), Catalone Gut; grandfather of Jeff, Erica, Lucas, Logan, Kyle and Sara; great-grandfather of Ben and Ty; cherished brother of Betty Beaver. He will be missed by all his extended family in Newfoundland and Ontario.
Archie was predeceased by his parents, Archibald and Mary Bessie (MacAulay) MacNevin; siblings, Mary MacDonald, Lauchlan MacLean, Berta MacDonald, Donald MacLean, Evan MacLean, Marion Thall and Kaye MacNevin; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Archibald and Alice Carter.
A sincere thank you to the many doctors who took such wonderful care of Archie over the years, as well as to the paramedics for their professionalism and compassion.
Visitation will take place at St. Bartholomew’s Church on Friday, February 15 from 1-2 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m., with Rev. Peter Rafuse officiating. Interment will be held in Loch End Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials in Archie’s memory may be made to Loch End Cemetery, Catalone.
